Plans submitted by Cassidy + Ashton for new Chorley police station given green light
Lancashire Constabulary, working in partnership with Eric Wright Construction, has been granted planning for the redevelopment of the former Runshaw College site on Euxton Lane, into a new police station.
Cassidy + Ashton, lead architectural and planning consultants on the project, prepared and submitted the planning application.
The new station will replace the existing one on St Thomas’ Road in Chorley Town Centre and the works are set to be completed by Spring 2026.
Project director at Cassidy + Ashton, Lawrence McBurney said: “As a local practice we are proud to be able to work on such a significant community project of this scale, working closely with Lancashire Constabulary and Eric Wright Construction.
“Proposals include substantial internal remodelling to suit the needs of a modern-day police station yet maintaining the sensitive treatment of existing historic facades and the enhancement of its historic features.”
John Hartnett, construction managing director at Eric Wright Construction said “We are glad to be working with Lancashire Constabulary to deliver their new police station in Euxton.
“Our works will see us deliver the refurbishment, conversion and fit-out of the existing building, while incorporating internal alterations and associated external works. It has greater effect that the site is on our doorstep and the completion of this project will bring lasting impacts to the local communities for generations to come.”
The new station will deliver a base to provide a range of policing services to the community, delivering better accessibility and transport links and will continue to offer a front counter provision for the public.
Supt. Gary Crowe, Operations Manager for Chorley, South Ribble and West Lancashire, said: “This is really positive for the residents and community of Chorley.
“Securing permission means we can now move forwards with our plans to create a more modern, state-of-the-art police station which we feel will help us to provide a better quality of service to the public and will support our operational activity, not just now, but for many more years to come.”
The investment is being funded as part of the Police and Crime Commissioner’s (PCC’s) capital programme. Lancashire PCC Clive Grunshaw said: “This is great news for policing in Chorley and the wider area, and I’m pleased to see progress in this significant investment in our policing infrastructure.
“The new Euxton Lane station will deliver a modern, fit for purpose police station that is accessible to the public, and I’m looking forward to seeing the development play a key part in delivering the efficient, effective policing service that people rightly expect and deserve.”
