Church Street Bistro & Bar, Blackpool
Cassidy + Ashton have submitted a listed building planning application in support of an application for the change of use of four existing units on Church Street from retail use to a bar and bistro, alongside associated external alterations.
The works will facilitate the provision of additional facilities at the Grade II* Theatre, complementing the Theatre by providing visitors with a destination for eating and drinking prior to or after a show. The bar / bistro will also be open to visitors who are not attending a Theatre performance.
The proposals would provide an opportunity to create a continuous harmonious frontage, replicating the existing cast iron canopy around the Grand Theatre entrance. The timber panelling and sandstone pilaster with floor to ceiling glazing will complement the existing building whilst providing a modern juxtaposition which is in keeping with the proposed use. The provision of an outdoor seating area will enhance the setting of the Theatre and this portion of the Conservation Area.
